Who we are

envoy.ship is a pre-launch logistics platform for cross-border freight on the South Africa–Mozambique corridor, built by a three-person team based in Durham, United Kingdom.

What we collect

When you sign up to our mailing list at envoy-ship.com, we collect:

• The email address you enter
• The signup source (e.g. direct, LinkedIn)
• A SHA-256 hash of your IP address (we never store the raw IP)
• Your browser's user-agent string
• The originating page (referrer), stripped to its origin only
• Timestamps for signup and confirmation

Why we collect it

• Email + signup source: to send you the confirmation email and, after you confirm, the one-time launch announcement when envoy.ship goes live.
• Hashed IP + user-agent: to detect and prevent abuse of the signup form (rate limiting).
• Referrer: to understand how people are finding us.

We do not run advertising, build behavioural profiles, sell your data, or share it with third parties beyond the operational services listed below.

Lawful basis (POPIA §11 / GDPR Art 6(1)(a))

We rely on your explicit consent, gathered via double opt-in (you sign up, we email you, you confirm). You can withdraw consent at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email or by emailing contact@envoy-ship.com.

How long we keep it

• Unconfirmed signups (confirmation pending) are deleted after 30 days.
• Confirmed subscribers are kept until you unsubscribe, plus a short suppression period afterwards so we don't accidentally re-add you.
• Hashed IP, user-agent, and referrer are kept alongside your row for the same duration.

Service providers we use

• Vercel — hosts the website
• Supabase — stores your signup record (EU region)
• Resend — delivers the confirmation email and the eventual launch announcement

Each is bound by data-processing terms appropriate for POPIA and GDPR.

Your rights

You can ask us to confirm what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop processing it. Email contact@envoy-ship.com and we'll respond within 30 days. You can also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority — the South African Information Regulator, the UK Information Commissioner, or your country's equivalent.

Changes to this notice

We'll update the date at the top of this page when we make material changes. If we ever change how we use your data in a meaningful way, we'll email you before the change takes effect.
